Dr. Gerard Feldhaus
Dr. Gerard Feldhaus is a Board Certified Pediatric Dentist. He was a 1977 graduate of Creighton University and also graduated from Creighton’s Dental School in 1981. He has always felt privileged to have been educated in a Jesuit environment and has drawn from that background in making good moral decisions when treating children’s teeth. Dr. Feldhaus completed his education doing a pediatric residency at the University of Missouri Kansas City, in affiliation with Children’s Mercy Hospital.
Dr. Feldhaus began his professional career giving back by treating patients at Truman East Medical Facility. He also shared time between a private practice in the Plaza and one in Claycomo. The pediatric dentistry practice in claycomo grew to the point that it required all of Dr. Feldhaus time and he has been there for over 35 years.
He is currently a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, The American Orthodontic Society, The American Dental Association, The Missouri Dental Association, the Greater Kansas City Dental Association and the Southwestern Society of Pediatric Dentistry. Dr. Feldhaus continues to take extensive education classes in pediatric dentistry and orthodontic care. He feels that it is important to provide complete comprehensive care for the growth and development of the pediatric patient.
If a young patient or special-needs patient requires complete sedation, Dr. Feldhaus is on staff at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. Patients have complete dental rehabilitation done in the outpatient area of surgery and go home the same day. Dr. Feldhaus is also licensed to provide full dental rehabilitation with in office general sedation on patients that need that. The in office general sedation is provided by Mobile Anesthesia Care from Children's Mercy Hospital by an anesthesiologist and Dr. Feldhaus does the dentistry in his own office.
Dr. Feldhaus is originally from Omaha, Nebraska. However, he has made his home in Liberty, Missouri with his wife and two daughters for the past 35 years. There is another pediatric dentist in the family; as his daughter, Audra is doing a residency at UNLV in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Jerry is an avid Nebraska football fan, Creighton basketball fan and an avid golfer in his spare time. He gives back to the community through Artstech program of “Flash-n-your Supergrill” to provide guidance for under-privileged youth to appreciate their natural bling!
Debbie is a dental hygienist at our office. Very few pediatric offices have a dental hygienist and especially one that has the experience and knowledge that Debbie has. Debbie received her Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene from the University of Iowa in 1977. She practiced in a general dentistry practice for 6 years before signing a lifelong contract with Dr. Feldhaus to be his wife. Debbie has been practicing dental hygiene in his pediatric dentistry practice since its inception in 1983. Debbie is an excellent communicator with both the parents and patients. Her vast knowledge based on both education and experience allows patients to be informed and relaxed. She informs people about their treatment plan and answers any questions that parents may have as well. Debbie has been able to make the checkup appointment for both children and teenagers an enjoyable experience.
Sammie is a dental assistant for Dr. Feldhaus and received her training at Concord Dental Assistant School. Sammie connects with all of the young people in the office so well. You could not find a kinder person and is perfect with people of all ages. Sammie is 100% enthusiastic, professional, and positive. Sammie is married and is a great mom to an adorable daughter. Sammie rocks!
Tammy has been the point person at the front desk for the past 25 years. She coordinates appointments and helps patients to understand their insurance benefits. Tammy has a way of remaining calm in the middle of “kid chaos” because she has such a fondness for all of the little ones being a proud grandmother of her own little people. Tammy is amazing at her job.
Suzie is the first person that you see at the front desk. Dr. Feldhaus liked working with Suzie so much in his residency at Children’s Mercy Hospital in 1981 that he took her with him to start his private practice. Suzie has continued to be a loyal employee, treating the patients like they are her family. She is enjoying seeing the former patients now return with their own children as patients. If you want to see Suzie really smile–ask her about her cats!!
Brittany is a dental assistant for Dr. Feldhaus. Brittany has a degree from Park University where she played softball. Brittany has incredible patience and a constant smile on her face. She really knows how to relate to young people as she has a beautiful daughter of her own.
